Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao came down heavily on the BJP government at Centre and its ministers accusing them of misleading Telangana farmers.
He wondered why the central government is not spelling out its clear policy on paddy procurement from Telangana farmers.
The extent of cultivation has gone upto over one crore acres from 40 lakh acres and paddy production increased to over 60 lakh metric to tonnes from about 13 lakh tonnes after formation of separate Telangana. The central government headed by BJP is trying to avoid its social responsibility of food procurement and food security.
Mr KCR wondered how the union ministers could say they have enough food stocks and refuse to procure paddy from Telangana. The world hunger index shows that during the BJP rule, hunger in India grew. India is placed much below than Nepal, Bangladesh and even Pakistan.
The Chief Minister urged the farmers to be wary of BJP leaders who are out to confuse people and create chaos in Telangana state.
Except in Telangana, no other state is supporting farmers in various ways.
Jealous of public patronage to the TRS government, the BJP is hatching another plan that is to bring legislation to collect power charges from farmers. The Telangana government is giving free power. But the BJP is insisting on collection of power charges or it will punish the state government by blocking its loans. This is the worst government ever seen and it should go, Mr KCR told farmers addressing a press conference.
