Telangana Journalist Forum (TJF), which stood in the forefront of statehood movement has undergone a metamorphosis into a full-fledged trade union for journalists.
The launch meeting of Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) was a resounding success, with thousands of journalists from 10 districts attending it.
Aptly named the Telangana Journalists Jathara, the meeting was held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally. Leaders of all political parties, TJAC leaders, artists and intellectuals graced the occasion and extended their wishes to the new journalist union.
Addressing the meeting, TRS president KCR praised the role of Telangana journalists in statehood movement. He promised housing sites, and financial help in constructing a Journalist Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Other noted leaders who participated in the meeting include K Jana Reddy (Cong), G Kishan Reddy (BJP), K Narayana (CPI), TJAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram, TPF leader M Veda Kumar, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and balladeer Gaddar.
TJF leaders Allam Narayana, Kranthi Kiran, Palle Ravi Kumar Goud, Ramesh Hazari, Ramana V Maramraj led the meeting.
