Telangana tops in extending loans to street vendors

The state government has extended a total loan of Rs. 695 crore to street vendors across the state in various cities and towns. The state was recognised as the first state in disbursing loans in the country compared to other states. Union Urban Development minister Hardip Singh Puri gave away the awards to various states in New Delhi.

On February 24, 2020, Chief Minister Mr KCR ordered the officials to ensure special vending zones and assist the poor vendors in securing bank loans.
Municipal minister Mr KTR too insisted that the poor vendors should get capital for their small enterprises and had been following the issue. The municipal officials ensured that vendors get loans in three phases so far.In the category of towns with a population of one to ten lakh, the first three ranks were bagged by Telangana state. In the category of a population of over 40 lakhs, Hyderabad city ranked first in the country. In the category of towns with a population of less than one lakh, of the total 3,555 towns, the first 10 ranks were bagged by Telangana state. In the category of towns with a population of 10 lakh, of the total 442 towns, Warangal town bagged the first rank.
