Telangana to sign pact with Singapore firm in research

The state government will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A Star) company in Singapore for cooperation in research and technology.

IT minister KT Rama Rao, who is in Singapore for attracting investments to the state, met the representatives of A Star company on Wednesday. A Star is a leading company in Singapore in finance, science and technology sectors.

A Star expressed its willingness to work with Telangana’s Research and innovation circle of Hyderabad (RICH) and gave its consent to sign a pact with the state government.

Once the MoU is signed, A Start will support research, innovation, incubation and trade sectors of TS. A student exchange programme would be taken up between Singapore and Telangana also, according to an official release.

Rama Rao also called on Indian High Commissioner in Singapore Vijay Thakur Singh.

The minister also met Surbana Jurong company CEO Teo Eng Cheong. Surbana Jurong is working in public housing programmes in Singapore.

Rama Rao wanted Surbana Jurong to take up a multi-storeyed building project in Hyderabad and informed the company that the state government would provide suitable land for the same. Cheong assured Rama Rao that the company would send a team to Hyderabad to study the proposals. Rama Rao also visited Taus Industrial Park. Later, he participated in a business session conducted by CII and Indian High Commission with CEOs of 18 Singapore companies, where he gave a power point presentation on the TS-iPASS.
