The State government has decided to organise a three-day event commemorating the completion of 74 years of the merger of Telangana dominion into the Indian Union.
A decision was taken by the state cabinet chaired by chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday.
Accordingly, public rallies will be taken out on September 16 at all constituencies, the chief minister will hoist the national flag on September 17 at Public Gardens and freedom fighters will be felicitated on September 18 and chief minister Mr KCR will take part in the concluding day function at NTR stadium.
The diamond jubilee celebrations also manifest how Telangana gave up monarchy and adopted democracy. Cutting across the ideologies and on individual capacity, the whole of Telangana people stood against the Nizam army and his private army of Razakars who went on a rampage to suppress the popular peoples’ movement.
The Cabinet meeting also decided to extend Dalit Bandhu scheme to an additional 500 families in each constituency at the earliest. It was also decided to allocate Rs 2,214,79 crore to supply 33 tmc of drinking water to Hyderabad city from Sunkeshula.
It was also decided to provide housing to 2,016 families living in the submergence area in Bhadrachalam.
