Telangana state is making slow and steady progress in terms of food production and is now ranked third after Punjab and Haryana. The then Andhra Pradesh stood at 23rd position in 1970-71 but in 2019-2020 Telangana state bagged the third position.
In the past, the food production per hectare was 781 kilos and is now 3,483 kilos, a phenomenal achievement. The national average stood at 2,343 kilos per hectare and Telangana surpassed it.
Food production saw a rise of five times increase, according to a report released by the NABARD.
Meanwhile, the paddy is sown on 45 lakh acres in this summer and the season is coming to an end in a month.
For the first time in 2020-2021, paddy was cultivated on a record 62 lakh acres. Paddy, this season, is expected to increase by another four to five lakh acres as there was still some time left.
