The whole of Telangana came onto the streets demanding that the Central government procurement paddy from the farmers in the state.
Scores of ministers led the protests following the call given by the TRS working president Mr K T Rama Rao.
Agricultural minister S Niranjana Reddy sought to know if it was justified refusing to procure the paddy from Telangana farmers while Panchayat Raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao asserted that the protest will continue till the BJP agrees to buy paddy from the farmers. The BJP will have to once again ask for pardon from the farmers as it did while scrapping the new farm laws.
Civil Supplies minister Mr Gangula Kamalakar said it was the constitutional duty of the centre to procure paddy and farmers are not beggars here.
Power minister Mr G Jagadish Reddy pointed out that the Food Security Act clearly says it was the duty of the centre to procure paddy.
Education minister Ms Sabhitha Indra Reddy said Mr Piyush Goyal asking people to eat broken rice speaks volumes about their bad attitude and reflects their moral bankruptcy.
Excise minister Mr Srinivas Goud said when the BJP said one nation one tax, why it is going back on procurement of paddy and discriminating against Telangana?
Roads & Buildings minister Mr Vemula Prashanth Reddy wanted to know where Mr Bandi Sanjay and G Kishan Reddy were hiding who instigated the farmers promising to buy every grain and asking them to sow paddy.
Transport Minister Mr P Ajay Kumar said why the BJP is adopting double standards while favouring the BJP ruled states and non-BJP ruled states.
Expressing solidarity to the TRS cadre who were on roads demanding for paddy procurement by the Centres, hundreds and thousands of farmers too joined them criticising the BJP for its fake promises and reluctance to procure paddy from Telangana state.
