Telangana govt has initiated replacing of current street lights with energy efficient LED lights in a big way. The project has began in Hyderabad already. Very soon, the phase two of this project would be implemented with 4000 new LED lights.
Officials have completed the process of selection of roads for installation and have prepared the ground work to set the plan in motion. It has been decided to complete the entire process within the end of this month.
In first phase of this scheme 740 LED lights have been installed in the West, South and Central zones prior to the Metropolis Conference. LED lights are already functioning along the routes of Chadrayangutta-Faluknama-Charminar- Nayapul, and Kottaguda Junction-Hitech city-Ayappa Society Road. The performance of LED’s has been assessed for 20 days and officials have concluded that a power conservation of 55 percent has been achieved. A fresh decision has been taken to install 4000 more LED lights in 20 other stretches. The contract has been allocated to Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) , a organization affiliated to the central government.
