Under the category of garbage free cities, three more local bodies Telangana state got awards taking the total to 19 awards this year.
Union urban development joint secretary Rupa Mishra informed the state government that Peerjadiguda, Akampur and Korutla municipalities were declared garbage free cities and would be presented with the Indian Swachata League on September 30th at New Delhi.
Of the 1850 cities that competed for the award, three cities of Telangana bagged the award at national level.
Already the centre announced 16 awards to various local bodies under Swachh Sarvekshan recently.
Municipal administration minister Mr KTR expressed happiness at the development and congratulated the officials of three municipalities.
