Telangana Gears Up For Sakala Janula Samme

Employees’ associations, political parties, students and people’s organisations are gearing up for the proposed employees’ general strike to be commenced in Telangana region on September 13.

Telangana Non-Gazetter Officers’ (TNGOs) Association president Swamy Goud held discussions with the leaders of employees’ and teachers associations in Mahbubnagar on Sunday.

He emphasised the need to make the strike a grand success to bring pressure on the Centre to settle the separate Telangana issue. Members of Political Joint Action Committee (JAC), Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) and YSR Congress Party already expressed their support for the proposed general strike. The students’ and people’s organisations extended their cooperation for the strike.

A couple of days ago, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, along with his followers, had resigned from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and launched his own political outfit – `Telangana Nagaara Samithi’. He said he too would join the strike.

Government officials informed to the higher ups in the State about their inability to prevent the proposed strike and to make alternate arrangements for the functioning of the administration. Under the circumstances, the employees associations in the district are in high spirits to take part in the agitation.

The State government, it is alleged, had already sent signals to the employees’ leaders not to indulge in violent acts.The political outfits decided to extend their support to the employees till the separate state is achieved.

Managements of private schools also expressed their support to the strike. Private schools will be closed on September 13. Meanwhile, Telangana leaders are making all arrangements to make the general a grand success. They have been touring towns and villages in the region to garner public support to the ongoing agitaion for a separate state. [HANS INDIA]
