Telangana faces Discrimination in Distress too

Mr Modi who has the habit of calling the chief ministers of state that are hit by floods and releasing funds did not bother to do the same with Telangana state.

Last week the Telangana state witnessed heavy rainfall, a record after many decades. People suffered, roads were washed away and the government sustained huge losses.

But neither Mr Modi called nor announced any funds to Telangana state to tackle the situation.

It may be noted that in Novembe r2021 when Karanataka witnessed floods, Mr Modi telephoned chief minister Baswaraj Bommai and assured him of funds.

When Gujarat witnessed a cyclone in 2021, Mr Modi released Rs 1,000 crore from NDRF funds. This month first week again when the state witnessed heavy rains, he promised to release funds.

The Centre released Rs 3,073 crore to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Karnataka, and West Bengal.

The BJP government at centre is liberally releasing funds to those states which are in favour while discriminating against the states that do not heed its dictate.

Mr Modi released Rs 324 crore recently to Assam as part of the second installment towards flood relief operations.

In 2021, the centre released Rs 1,664 crore on March 3 to Karnakata, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Tamilnadu, and Pondicherry.

The BJP at centre is at loggerhead with the TRS government in Telangana as it questions many anti-people policies and strongly condemns the false propaganda by its leaders against the ruling party here.

However, the chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao went ahead and announced that there is no dearth of funds for flood relief worlds and infused confidence among the officials and flood victims during his visit to many agency areas on Saturday.
