The Union cabinet is expected to meet tomorrow and finalize the statehood bill and send it to the President.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be making a statement on Telangana statehood in both houses of Parliament tomorrow.
The bill would be introduced in Rajya Sabha on 10th and in Lok Sabha on the 13th of Feb.
The much publicized “Mouna Deeksha” of Kiran Kumar Reddy in New Delhi was a damp squib. The “Deeksha”, which was supposed to be day long, was a mere 3 hour affair.
There were over two dozen Seemandhra leaders on the dais. The organizers had arranged a couple of hundred chairs, but the turnout was so dismal, that only a dozen of them were occupied.
Dramatic scenes were witnessed at AP Bhavan today morning, as Kiran Kumar Reddy’s convoy started to their “Deeksha” site. Ministers from Telangana region including Geetha Reddy, DK Aruna, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy staged a protest sit-in before Kiran’s convoy.
Tense moments were witnessed as pro and anti Telangana leaders started shouting slogans. Security personnel of Kiran then pushed the Telangana ministers aside and made way for his convoy. Senior ministers like Geetha Reddy fell down in the mele.
