Tata Power had expressed its willingness to invest in a solar power plant to generate 100 mw solar power in the state.
This was conveyed by the Tata Group representatives to Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao, who led a delegation to Mumbai, to meet Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry and the CEOs of other Tata companies.
Rama Rao accompanied by Harpreet Singh, secretary IT, Jayesh Ranjan, commissioner of industries and S Eshwaariah, CE Housing, visited Mumbai to interact with top management of Tata companies.
Rama Rao explained the new industrial policy of the Telangana government and the state’s flagship projects like Water Grid, T-HUB, RICH, Industrial corridors, Smart City, Solar Power park, Aerospace Park etc and the Tata Group has shown interest in these projects, an official release said.
‘‘On behalf of Tata Power, the group showed their willingness to take up generation of 100 MW solar power. They also expressed an interest in utilizing wastelands for development of biomass for generating renewable energy. They have identified feasibility of wind power in Telangana, which they will explore further,’’ the release said. The Tata Realty group has expertise in industrial township projects and they agreed to participate in the development of a Greenfield Industrial Township at an appropriate location along with processing and non-processing area.
They will support the government’s efforts to develop an electronic hardware manufacturing park near Hyderabad. This arm of the Tata Sons offered their services to study the transportation systems in Hyderabad city, and work out the possibility of a Light Rail system as a feeder to the Metro rail. The Tata Advanced Systems already has aerospace projects in Hyderabad.
Tata Projects CEO expressed interest to participate in the execution of the water grid project.
‘‘T-HUB, which will become the largest incubation centre in the country once it is launched, fascinated the chairman Cyrus Mistry. He committed the support of TCS to the project and agreed to explore the possibility of Tata Innovations Fund to take up equity in the project,’’ the release said.
