After the legendary Suravaram Pratapa Reddy, Another Suravaram has made Telangana proud. Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy was unanimously elected as the national general secretary of Communist Party of India. He replaces veteran CPI leader AB Bardhan, who held this post for 16 years.
And as a true son of the soil, as soon as he was elected, Suravaram reiterated CPI’s unstinted support to the Telangana statehood struggle. He said his party would make every attempt to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy was born on March 25th, 1942 in Kondrapalli village, Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. He was a member of the CPI from his student days.
Sudhakar Reddy was elected as the state secretary to All India Student Federation (AISF) in 1965. In 1966, he was elected as AISF’s national secretary. He was elected for the CPI national council in 1971.
Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy was elected to the Nalgonda Parliament seat in 1998. He was also elected as the state CPI secretary in the same year.
Suravaram is a voracious reader and is also a good writer. He is married to BV Vijayalakshmi, who is now the national secretary of All India Trade Union Congress. He has two sons, Nikhil and Kapil.
