Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to tennis player Sania Mirza for winning the US Open mixed doubles grand slam title.
Sania Mirza thanked him for granting Rs 1 crore earlier which facilitated her to participate in the US Open. The chief minister hoped that Sania would win titles in future tournaments as well. He said her victories would further strengthen the image of Telangana state in the world of sports.
State government had appointed Sania Mirza as the Brand Ambassador of Telangana in July this year.
Rs 25 Lakh to Powerlifter: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has promised Rs 25 lakh, a house and job to powerlifter S Hemalatha, who won a gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games.
