State anniversary fete concludes

Artistes from Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam performed Bhadradri Nrutyabhishekam, a dance concert in the honour of renowned saint composer Bhakta Ramadasu, on the concluding day of the Telangana State formation celebrations here on Sunday.

The Bhakta Ramadasu Kalakshetram, where the event was organised, came alive with the scintillating classical dance performances by artistes, who danced to the tunes of Ramadasu’s popular keertanas.

The artistes highlighted the lyrical charm of the keertanas.

A host of folk music and traditional dance performances such as Palle Suddulu were staged by the artistes of other troupes in the afternoon.

Adilabad: A colourful and musical ‘Shobha Yatra’ by folk artistes at the district headquarters on Sunday evening was the high point of the valedictory celebrations in Adilabad.

Different departments organised rallies of their own, notably the Medical and Health and Municipal Council employees. Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna, Adilabad MP G. Nagesh and Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao led the rallies and actively participated in them. Later, a function to mark the end of the week-long celebrations was held at the R&B Guesthouse where the Minister and others paid homage at the Martyrs’ column. A cultural programme featuring folk artistes of Telangana was witnessed by hundreds of locals. The Minister also felicitated prominent mediapersons for their role in the creation of a Telangana State. Singers from a Hyderabad-based orchestra regaled the audience.

Nizamabad: A marathon was organised on the concluding day of the week-long Telangana celebrations in the district headquarters town and in Bodhan, Velpur and other places. A heritage walk was organised at the historic Deval Mosque in Bodhan.

Collector D. Ronald Ross flagged off the run at the Collectorate. Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy, Additional Joint Collector P. Rajaram, DRDA Project Director P. Venkatesham and a number of officials and students participated in the run which proceeded through the main thoroughfares of the town.

MLA Vemula Prasanth Reddy (Balkonda) attended celebrations at Velpur. Bangaru Telangana, a play staged by Sidhartha Kalakshetra, a magic show by Ranganath and Telangana Dhoom Dham by balladeer Goreti Venkanna team added colour to the celebrations.

Karimnagar: The people of the district should play a crucial role in transforming the State into ‘golden’ or bangaru Telangana, local MP B. Vinod Kumar has said. Flagging off a three-kilometre walk organised as part of the first anniversary celebrations of Telangana’s formation in Karimnagar town on Sunday, the MP said people should support the government in rebuilding the State, and such effort should acquire the form of a movement. Stating that the people of the State had actively participated in the State celebrations, he exhorted people to take to walking regularly for healthy living.

Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, Additional Joint Collector Nagendra, DSDO Satyavani, DWMA project director Ganesh and others were also present.
