Powerloom weavers staged a protest against the Congress government in Sircilla. The weavers are demanding better opportunities and support from the Congress government. The powerloom workers took a huge rally in the Sircilla town on Friday.
It is reported that the new government has cancelled the order of Bathukamma sarees pushing the Sircilla handloom industry into a crisis. The weavers are demanding the Congress government to clear old dues and roll out new subsidies.
The previous BRS government has introduced many schemes to support the weaver community and provided them with ample opportunities such as manufacturing of Bathukamma sarees and school uniforms.
