The state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is in its full glory under the supportive leadership of CM KCR. SCCL is creating new records in coal production and transportation.
Last December, SCCL produced the highest amount of coal in its history. The coal company produced 67.2 lakh tonnes of coal in December 2022, which is a record of sorts. By transporting 2.18 lakh tonnes of coal every day, Singareni has re-created history and it’s a testament to the efficiency of the state-owned body and its workers.
After the state formation, CM KCR started treating Singareni employees with empathy as they undergo many hardships while working in high temperatures and in underground mines.
The Telangana government has initiated several measures for the welfare of the employees such as increasing the retirement age to 61 years, enhancing the matching grant given by the company from Rs.1 lakh to Rs. 10 lakhs, increasing compensation from Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs in cases of employees not opting for dependent employment.
Other steps include providing a home loan of Rs 10 lakhs, increasing pregnancy leaves from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, etc. Also, the profit bonus, which was 18% in 2014, has been hiked to 30% in 2022. Now, the employees are being offered super speciality medical care and AC facility in homes.
Though the union government is auctioning Singareni coal blocks and trying to privatise SCCL, the BRS government is vehemently opposing the move and saving Singareni from being privatised. By creating a conducive atmosphere for employees to function efficiently, the SCCL is running in profits. In turn, the Singareni employees are reaping dividends.
