The invitations sent by the Union Home Ministry to nine political parties made it amply clear that Congress party is back to its old antics on Telangana issue. The invitation also highlights how Congress bigwigs are still clueless about the ground level situation in Telangana.
Home Ministry’s invite used a strange word – “re-starting” the consultations on Telangana issue. The ministry letter also says that this meeting was arranged at the behest of Telangana Congress MPs. All in all, it is very clear that the Congress is hurtling towards a catastrophe on Telangana issue.
The manner in which Home Ministry sent these invitations has attracted severe condemnation from not only Congress MPs, but also opposition party leaders.
TRS supremo KCR said “It is evident that the Centre has absolutely no intention of giving Telanana state. This meeting is just a farce.”
Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy was literally fuming at this U-turn by the Union Home Minister Shinde. “It was incorrect on part of the ministry to say that the meeting was being held at our request. Moreover, the ministry has invited two representatives from each party to the meeting, whereas we specifically asked Shinde to invite only one representative,”.
TRS Politburo member and former MP Boinapalli Vinod Kumar also stated that there is no clarity in the invitation of the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for the all-party meeting.
What remains to be seen is if YSRCP and TDP clarify their stand on the statehood issue in the 28th Dec meeting.
Telangana activists are gearing up to show Congress, TDP and YSRCP, a taste of their fury, if these three parties continue to dodge the statehood issue.
