Raise IT Slab Rate for Women: Kavitha

Stating that she would request the Union government to raise the tax exemption slab rates for women employees from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was running an employee-friendly government.

Addressing the 5th National Women’s Convention, organised by the All India State Government Employees Federation (AISGEF) at National Institute of Technology auditorium here on Saturday, she briefed the women employees about the measures being taken up by the Telangana government for the welfare of employees and added that the TRS government would strive for the welfare of its employees even in future.

Reminding the history of Warangal, she said the dream of a separate Telangana state was realised only with the support of government employees.Expressing concern over the low percentage of women employees in the public sector as only 16 per cent of government employees in the country were women, she stressed the need for the girl child education and added Telangana Jagruthi would strive for it.

Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma said Telangana government would always extend support to its employees. Earlier, a massive rally had been taken out from the Keerthi Stupa opposite collector bungalow to NIT-Warangal marking the inauguration of the two-day event.

TNGO’s leaders Devi Prasad, K Ravinder Reddy, P Subba Rao, P Vijaya Laxmi, MP Gundu Sudha Rani and others were also present.

National Festival STATUS for Medaram Jatara

The MP said she would strive to see that the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara gets the status of a national festival. Speaking to newsmen in Warangal on Saturday, she said Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram would be invited to attend the jatara. “During his visit, I will discuss the issue of national festival status to the jatara,” she said and exuded confidence that Medaram jatara would also be declared as the national tribal event as it was the biggest tribal congregation in the country. She also informed that Telangana Jagruthi would produce a documentary on the Jatara. She said the works related to the jatara would be completed on time.
