Pranab to Inaugurate Fifth India Aviation-2016 Expo and Conference

President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the fifth international exhibition and conference on civil aviation, ‘India Aviation-2016’ which will be held at the Begumpet airport here from March 16 to 20.

The President will also witness an aerobatic display as part of the event.

Union civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju will inaugurate the conference and exhibition on March 17. The Civil Aviation Show will be opened to the public on March 19 and 20. The theme of India Aviation-2016 is ‘India’s civil aviation sector: potential as global manufacturing hub’.

The stakeholders include aircraft manufacturers, aircraft machinery and equipment manufacturers, skill development and training institutions, airline services and air cargo operators, airport infrastructure developers, space industry and operators.

More than 200 major participants are expected to attend the show. While the USA and Canada are partner countries, delegations from more than 25 countries including France, Jamaica, Mauritius, Belgium, Germany, New Zealand, South Korea, Greece and Singapore countries will participate in the show.

Leading aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, Textron, Embraer, Gulfstream and Dassault; leading helicopter manufacturers such as Agusta Westland, Bell Helicopters, Russian Helicopters and Airbus Helicopters; major engine manufacturers including CFM, UTC, GE aviation and Rolls Royce; major airline companies like Qatar, Emirates and Etihad will be participating in the event. Governments of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and AP will also participate in the show.

Civil Aviation Secretary Reviews Arrangements

Union civil aviation secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey held a meeting with chief secretary Rajiv Sharma and other officials at the Secretariat here on Wednesday and reviewed the arrangements for successfully conducting the show.Choubey said that for the first time the President would be coming to inaugurate an India Aviation show and, as such, steps should be taken to conduct the event in a foolproof manner.
