In a surprising move, the Congress government in Telangana has prohibited all types of strikes within the Telangana TRANSCO and DISCOMs. The prohibition will be in effect for six months starting February 25, 2024, in all services under the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited and two distribution companies – TSNPDCL and TSSPDCL.
A Government Order (G.O) was issued to this effect. “In the circumstances reported by the Chairman & Managing Director of Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited and after careful consideration of the matter, the Government is satisfied that it is necessary and expedient to prohibit strikes in the public interest in any services within the Transmission Corporation of Telangana Limited and Two Distribution Companies,” the G.O. mentioned.
However, many people are criticizing the decision of the Revanth Reddy government to ban strikes. They question whether this is the real ‘Praja Palana’ that the Congress party was boasting about.
