Police arrest Telangana leaders at Kukatpally

In a complete contrast to the free-hand given to Seemandhra agitators, state police have once again resorted to repression on Telangana activists.

Saturday midnight, police swooped down on the homes of Kukatpally JAC leaders Vidya Venkat, Janagam Suresh Reddy, TJF Convenor Dayasagar, TRS leader Jaganmohan Rao and arrested them.

The reason for their arrest was that the Great Hyderbad JAC had planned a meeting at a local function hall on Sunday. The meeting was intended to make preparations for the 29th Sept Telangana Sakala Janula Bheri meeting.

Police cordoned off the function hall where the meeting was planned and arrested hundreds of Telangana activists who came to attend the meeting.

Those arrested include Great Hyderabad JAC Chairman Dr. Sridhar, TRS leaders Kattela Srinivas Yadav, Krishna Yadav and Gottimukkala Padma Rao.

This incident once again proves how biased the state government and police department are. While meetings are allowed to take place in every nook and corner of Seemandhra, the police are not allowing Telangana activists to have at least a closed-door meeting in Hyderabad.
