No need to panic about the new variant of Coronavirus: Dr Nageshwar Reddy

The Chairman of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) Dr Nageshwar Reddy said there is no need to panic about the new variant of Coronavirus. He wanted people to stay calm amid the news of the fast spread of Corona in different forms across the globe.

About 90 per cent of people in the country are vaccinated and a booster dose would suffice now. Minimum care such as sporting a mask and social distancing will help. The officials of the World Health Organisation (WHO) found the BF 7 variant of Coronavirus in July. It is now spread over 50 countries around the globe.

Indian virologist, Dr Gagandeep Kang said 73 per cent of samples show an XBB variant and there is no increase in Corona cases in the country. Nearly 90 per cent of people are vaccinated and their immunity levels are high.

Meanwhile, the government has made arrangements for international travellers at Shamshabad Airport like thermal screening and checking of vaccine certificates among others.
