The Telangana state stands as a role model for the country in agriculture, said Minister KTR. Addressing the 1.5 lakh farmers in 13 mandals of Sircilla Rajanna district on the occasion of National Farmers Day in a teleconference on Friday, he said chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who espoused the cause of separate Telangana infused confidence and pride among the farmers as promised.
In united Andhra Pradesh, the rulers termed agriculture a vain enterprise and deprived the farmers of power, irrigation and any government support. The farmers were forced to commit suicide. But after the formation of separate Telangana, KCR turned agriculture into a viable vocation providing free power and abundant water.
The BRS government also came up with several welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Beema. The BRS government is spending Rs. 10,000 crores for round-the-clock uninterrupted quality power and Rs. 15,000 crores for Rythu Bandhu annually.
After 75 years of independence it was KCR who proved that one can work wonders provided one has a good conscience and empathy towards the poor farmers. The BRS government built several reservoirs, restored tanks through Mission Kakatiya and completed several irrigation projects including the stupendous Kaleswaram project. The efforts resulted in increased groundwater all over Telangana state, Mr KTR pointed out.
The minister urged the people to strengthen Mr KCR for more welfare and development. He appealed to farmers to vote for BRS-backed candidates in the ensuing cooperative elections in the district.
