Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav have decided to hold talks with the newly formed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) founded by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. They said their common objective was to defeat the BJP in the 2024 general elections and hence they were trying to forge an alliance with like-minded parties such as BRS.
In a statement, Akhilesh Yadav said Telangana chief minister KCR was trying to build an alternative to the BJP which is the need of the hour. Under the BJP’s rule, the inflation and unemployment rate were disturbing the people. The Central government also undermined the federal spirit by usurping the powers of the state and also undermining democracy by toppling the governments in various states.
Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said he was in touch with the BRS leadership. To defeat the BJP in the 2024 general elections, all the opposition parties should unite. The BJP betrayed JDU in Bihar and conspired to defeat JDU candidates in the elections. It later tried to buy the MLAs of JDU, he said.
The BRS has started getting support across the country with leaders of various political parties evincing keen interest to work with Mr KCR. The Karnataka former chief minister H D Kumara Swamy has already expressed his consent to jointly fight the ensuing Assembly elections with the BRS.
Meanwhile, the Telangana chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao left for New Delhi on Monday. He would be inaugurating the BRS party office on Wednesday after performing Rajashyamala Yagam for two days. He is likely to stay put in New Delhi till December 17 holding discussions with the political leaders, retired bureaucrats, economists, and intellectuals on the future course of action.
A large number of TRS (BRS) leaders from Telangana are expected to take part in the inaugural of the BRS office in New Delhi on Wednesday.
