
The Telangana government treasury has made an all-time record payment of Rs. 5,809 crore to the banks waiving the farm loans up to Rs. 99,999 which benefitted nine lakh farmers in the state. Chief Minister Mr K Chandrashekhar Rao has promised to waive the farm loans. He instructed the officials to release the amount to banks for the purpose.
The state government has been releasing the waiver amount in a phased manner. So far it has released Rs. 7,753 crore. A total of 16.2 lakh farmers benefitted from the gesture. CM KCR promised a loan waiver in 2014 and accordingly released Rs. 16,144 crores waiving the farm loans of 35.32 lakh farmers. This is the second time that the state government waived the farm loans.
In the past nine years, the ruling BRS government spent Rs. 96,288 crore to provide free 24-hour power to the farmers. Similarly, the government so far spent Rs. 5,402.55 crore under Rythu Bheema scheme for 1.08 lakh farmers’ families.
Towards Rythu Bandhu, the state government disbursed Rs. 71,552 crore in the 11 phases giving Rs. 10,000 per acre input assistance to nearly 70 lakh farmers.
