Telangana CM KCR inaugurated Mallanna Sagar Project and dedicated it to the people of Telangana on Wednesday. Mallanna Sagar reservoir, the Mother of all reservoirs, has a capacity of 50 TMC and is a significant part of the multi-purpose Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). The CM performed a detailed puja at the reservoir and released the Godavari water into Mallanna Sagar. With this project’s inauguration, the construction of all the reservoirs on the main trunk of the KLIS is completed. Mallannasagar will cater to the irrigation needs and drinking water requirements of the major part of the State.
Chief Minister Mr KCR expressed his happiness at taking in the Mallannasagar Reservoir dedication work. He was elated at the structure coming after a lot of hurdles and great efforts. Going down the memory line, Mr KCR said at one time 50,000 workers from 14 states were working on the Kaleswaram project. One miscreant moved to the High Court and work was stalled. He said he drove to court officials who asked for more evidence and details that were ultimately accepted. But gathering the labor became difficult and work was stopped for one year.
This Mallannasagar Reservoir which is part of Kaleswaram project is aimed at eradicating drought from Telangana forever. This will also fulfill the needs of irrigation and drinking water of Hyderabad as well. It was described as a man-made miracle with several unique features.
The TRS government has been dreaming and coming up with excellent development and welfare programs that are being replicated by other states now.
But the sad thing is that we are seeing a new trend where people are being divided on the basis of caste and religion just for political gains. Such forces should be defeated. Mr KCR said he was trying his best to unite like-minded forces and needed the blessings of people.
The chief minister promised to release Rs 1500 crore to develop all the reservoirs into beautiful tourist spots. He asked finance minister Mr T Harish Rao to talk to local leaders and devise plans for the purpose.
CM Sri KCR said, “I promised to wash the feet of Komuravelli Mallanna with Godavari water, and today I am doing that.” Later, the CM visited Komuravelli Mallanna Swamy temple. The CM offered Godavari water abhishekam to Komuravelli Mallanna and washed the feet of the temple’s main deity.
