The state government has decided to launch another prestigious programme “Mana Ooru – Mana Badi” (Our village – Our school) that envisages massive improvement of infrastructure and quality of education in government schools.
The state cabinet that met here last evening chaired by chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to introduce English medium in all government schools from next academic year.
It was decided to allocate Rs 7,289 crore for the improvement of infrastructure in government schools. The government intends to involve people in this programme.
The chief minister constituted a cabinet sub-committee to regulate fees in private schools and colleges and decided to bring out new legislation. The sub-committee will be headed by Education minister Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy and ministers Mr K T Rama Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, T Harish Rao, S Niranjan Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, Koppula Eswar and Puvvada Ajay Kumar will be its members.
The cabinet also decided to set up a Women’s University and Forest University. Those passing out from Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI) would be provided reservation in jobs in the forest department.
The chief minister has instructed the chief secretary Mr Somesh Kumar to come up with a detailed report on proposals in the next cabinet meeting.
