IT and Industries minister Mr K T Rama Rao once again came to the rescue of yet another tribal girl who secured IIT seat in Varanasi.
A girl, Sri Latha, belonging to poor Koya tribal family of Mamidigudem, Cherla mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district secured 97 per cent marks in Intermediae and bagged a seat in IIT Varanasi toping the IIT JEE recently. But her parents who are agricultural labour could not afford to send her to IIT. Mr KTR came to know about the predicament of the family and immediately reached out to them.
Mr KTR met the parents and the girl and handed them over a cheque enabling her to pursue her further studies. He also promised them to take care of the girl’ education till she completes her studies at IIT.
“I feel proud to help Sri Latha who will be inspiration to scores of poor and downtrodden students. She proved that nothing hinders a determined soul,” he said on the occasion.
