Telangana IT Minister Mr K T Rama Rao has asked the Centre to allocate funds for Telangana state in the ensuing budget.
He wanted the centre to sanction Rs 9,000 crore for the industrial corridor, Rs 5,000 crore for pharma city and include Hyderabad city in defence industrial production corridor.
Mr Rama Rao said the proposed pharma city needs a master plan costing Rs 50 crore, Rs 1,399 crore for road linkages, water supply, electricity, rail connectivity, and other amenities and Rs 3,554 crore for zero liquid discharge treatment plant and internal infrastructure and all put together, it needs Rs 5,003 crore.
The proposed pharma city on completion will attract investment to the tune of Rs 64,000 crore and provide 5.6 lakh jobs.
The IT minister also asked for the establishment of the National Design Centre. As instructed by the union finance minister, it was decided to start the centre at the National Academy of Construction (NAC) campus. The Telangana state government is ready to meet 25 per cent of establishment and maintenance expenditure while the rest is expected from the Central government.
