KTR keeps his promise of dhobi ghats made during Munugode bypoll

The Municipal Administration minister Mr KT Rama Rao has said the state government has sanctioned Rs. 282 crores to set up modern dhobi ghats in 141 municipalities across the state. He made this promise during the Munugode byelections.

Each municipality will get Rs. 2 crore for the construction of a modern laundry facility. A committee comprising the district collector, municipal commissioner, an executive engineer from the public health department, and the municipal assistant commissioner will oversee the execution of works.

The minister said as a pilot project modern dhobhi ghats were constructed at eight places and after formation of Telangana, as many as 644 dhobi ghats were constructed with Rs. 30 crores. Offering 250 units of free power, the scheme is benefitting nearly two lakh washermen in the state.

Telangana Rajaka Sanghala Samithi advisor Mr Konduru Satyanarayana welcoming the move said it would encourage the youth of their community to continue their traditional vocation. In the past no government ever concerned about the washermen community but when Mr KCR came to power in Telangana, the community received his patronage and benefitting much from his good gestures.
