Minister for panchayat raj and information technology KT Rama Rao inaugurated Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board works in the old city of Hyderabad on Tuesday.
The works include an inlet and outlet and distribution network of 12 ML capacity reservoir at Riyasat Nagar (Rs 6.56 cr); another network of 5 ML capacity reservoir at Maisaram (Rs 5 cr); construction of a 5 ML RCC clear water reservoir at Salala Barkas and an inlet and outlet and distribution network (Rs 20.50 cr); construction of a 2 ML RCC clear water reservoir at Bandlaguda and an inlet and outlet and distribution network (Rs 25.50 cr). Due to total depletion of water levels in the Singur and Manjeera reservoirs, HMWS&SB has stopped supplies from these sources to Greater Hyderabad and started supplying Godavari and Krishna water through reverse pumping.However, for the gram panchayats of Muttangi, Lakdaram, Isnapur, Potireddypally, Kandi, Sadasivapet, Shankarpally and ordnance factory, BHEL and Icrisat and some other commercial establishments on the route in Medak district, supplies are being made by drawing the dead storage water for their minimum requirement.
Deputy CM and revenue minister Mahmood Ali and home minister Nayini Narsimha were also present.
