Following Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to invoke relevant sections in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 to invest the Governor with powers to deal with law and order in Hyderabad, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao came down heavily on Naidu and made it clear that the T-government would oppose such a proposal tooth and nail. Stating that the Telangana government would not accept any such attempt by the Centre to encroach upon the rights of the State, KTR said Naidu was trying to create a rift between the people of both the States and fuel hatred between them. “What is the necessity for Naidu to write to the Centre on the matter’s concerning his neighbouring State? We won’t tolerate any such efforts by him to infringe on the rights of the T-State,” KTR told reporters here on Monday. Stating that the T-government would take legal course if powers on the law and order in Hyderabad are given to the Governor, KTR questioned Naidu, saying, “Are there any benamis for Chandrababu Naidu in Gurukul Trust lands? Why is the AP CM opposing the Telangana government taking action against the illegal structures on these lands?” Coming down heavily on the AP CM, KTR said Naidu was still building castles in the air thinking that he was CM for united AP even now. “Chandrababu Naidu is just a guest of Telangana State in Hyderabad for 10 years. He should remember this,” he remarked.
Kavitha Attacks Centre
Meanwhile, KTR’s sister and MP K Kavitha found fault with the Centre for proposing to give administrative powers on law and order in Hyderabad to thew Governor. “It is a clear attempt by the Centre to infringe on the rights of the T-State. Already, in the AP Reorganisation Act 2014, there are some powers given to the Governor over Hyderabad. Now, the Union government is planning to give more powers to him by amending the Act. It is not proper on the part of the Centre to curtail the powers of T-State. Such a move will affect the Centre-State relations, which are already fragile,” Kavitha said.
