Kodandaram and Swami Goud to go on indefinite fast

The Telangana movement is all set to enter into a decisive phase. The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (JAC), which met in Hyderabad yesterday has decided to further intensify the agitation. A crucial decision to this effect was taken at the JAC meeting. Accordingly TJAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram and TNGO leader Swami Goud will undertake indefinite fast soon.

Several protest ideas were discussed at the JAC meeting. The common thread among all those proposals was to change the strategy and make the movement more militant. Some of the ideas that were deliberated was to launch a Chalo Hyderabad in a much bigger way than the Million March. Plans to block all National Highways passing through Telangana was also discussed.

To start with, the JAC has given an ultimatum to Union Minister for Petroleum S. Jaipal Reddy and state Panchayat Raj minister K Jana Reddy to immediately resign from their posts and take an active role in the movement.

The JAC has also decided to conduct protest rallies from 10th April to 20th April.

It was also decided to take up protest programs against the sell-off of Waqf lands in the wake of the recent high court judgement on Lanco Hills.

The meeting also appealed to Telangana youth not to resort to suicides. The JAC leaders assured that it is their responsibility to take the movement forward and reach the statehood goa,
