Kavitha Meets Parrikar, Seeks Handover of Bison Polo Lands to TS

Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha requested Union Defence minister Manohar Parrikar to handover Bison Polo lands in Secunderabad to the state government for the construction of a new Secretariat.

Kavitha, along with other TRS MPs, called on Manohar Parrikar and recalled the earlier representation by the state government for transfer of Bison Polo lands for new Secretariat buildings.

Manohar Parrikar reportedly informed Kavitha that he would soon tour Telangana state and discuss the matter there.

Kavitha requested Parrikar to establish an Army Recruitment Centre at Nizamabad district. The present recruitment centre in Secunderabad was not helpful to the needs of a large number of young people Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad districts, Kavitha said.

Kavitha also urged the Union Minister to establish an Ordinance Factory at Nizamabad. “Establishment of Ordinance Factory in Nizamabad will be a great step in pursuance to the Make In India initiative for the Defence sector and also reduce imports in the strategic sector,” Kavitha said.

She said that the proximity of Nizamabad to Hyderabad, which already has an ideal Defence industry ecosystem can also be adequately leveraged in the regard.

Kavitha requested Parrikar to establish a Sainik School exclusively for women at Nizamabad, as it would be extremely helpful in creating a talent pool of dedicated and capable girls who would be willing to join Armed Forces in future.

“The Sainik Schools at present in the country are only for boys. Since the government is now recruiting women in the armed forces, it would only be natural to ensure that such an ecosystem is also made available to the girls in the country also,” Kavitha told Parrikar.
