The state government will take an appropriate decision on extending the benefits of ‘Kalyana Laxmi’ to Backward Classes, deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari has said.
Replying to a question raised by TRS member Ajmeera Rekha and others during Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, Srihari said Rs 338 crore had been sanctioned for the ‘Kalyana Laxmi’ and ‘Shaadi Mubarak’ schemes.
As many as 41,123 people benefited from Kalayana Laxmi scheme. They include 26,840 from SCs and 14,283 from STs. About 20,495 people benefited from the Shaadi Mubarak scheme.
Srihari said the process of application, verification, sanction and remittance to bank account has been made online. All expenditures under the scheme are free of treasury control. Annual Action Plan has been prepared by fixing the physical and financial targets. The scheme has been included in Green Channel for release of funds.
The government has provided an amount of Rs157 crore for SCs, Rs80 crore for STs for 2015-16 under Kalyana Lakshmi and Rs100 crore for Shaadi Mubarak.
