Laying the foundation stone for the VEM Technologies company at Zaheerabad, the IT Minister Mr KTR said the defence industries in Hyderabad play key role in the country’s defence.
The VEM which supplies defence equipment to the Indian defence was sanctioned 511 acres of land and provided all clearances by the Telangana government. It is expected to provide about 2,000 direct employment for skilled and semi skilled persons.
Mr KTR urged the company officials to prefer local youth for their needs. He said skilled personnel can be chosen on merit from anywhere.
The minister also exhorted the company officials to involve in government programmes like Haritha Haram, Mana Ooru Mana Badi as part of their corporate social responsibility in and around Zaheerabad.
He said though the Telangana government asked the centre to set up defence Corridor between Hyderabad and Bangalore, the BJP government shifted it to Bundelkhand discriminating against Telangana.
Despite non cooperation from the centre, the Telangana government could attract investments and develop the state. It also provided jobs in private sector to the youth of the state, Mr KTR said.
