Our responsibility is not over by just planting trees, we should take care of them like how we take care of our kids” As Sayamma, the sarpanch of Fasalwadi village kept talking, the collectors of 10 Telangana districts and IT & Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao listened with rapt attention.
Sayamma was a special invitee to the periodic Video Conferences that IT & Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao organizes with District Collectors. These Video Conferences are held to review the progress of various schemes and initiatives of the minister’s department.

Sayamma participated in this video conference from Sangareddy, along with Medak district administration. During the review on Haritha Haram, the state’s afforestation program, the minister asked Sayamma what are the benefits of planting trees. Sayamma floored everyone in the meeting with her clarity on the need for afforestation and how the government administration should take care of the saplings planted. She promised that she will ensure her village plants 45,ooo saplings as part of Haritha Haram.
