Health Ministry must be ready to face third wave: Minister Harish Rao

Finance and Health Minister Harish Rao has instructed officials to fully gear up to meet any exigency in view of third wave of Corona scare.

The minister along with the Director of Public Health G Srinivasa Rao held a teleconference with all the district medical officers and health workers and Asha workers.

He wanted the health department officials to complete vaccination programme for 15 to 18 years children both first and second dose at the earliest. He also wanted them to prepare for a program that will give a booster dose to those over 60 year from January 10.

Mr Harish Rao said the Chief Minister Mr KCR has directed the department to keep ready one crore home isolation kits and two crore corona confirmation kits at district and Primary Health Centre (PHCs) and sub-centre levels. The personnel from Municipal department and Panchayat Raj department should be drafted for special awareness programmes on need for better health practices, Corona protocol such as wearing mask, avoiding large gatherings, maintaining social distance among others.

Appreciating the health department personnel at field level for their dedicate services during the Corona pandemic, he wanted them to show the same spirit once more in view of third wave scare. “On provision of better health services, Telangana state ranks first in the country and it should be retained by work hard once again,” Mr Harish Rao said.

The vaccination for the teenagers has been going on in full gear across the Telangana state at present.
