The Telangana Government will start ‘Grama Jyoti’ programme on August 15 to ensure all-round development of villages in the State. The Government will spend Rs. 25,000 crore in the next five years on this programme. Villages will get a financial support of Rs. 2-6 crore, depending on the size of the village.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appointed a Cabinet Sub-committee on Sunday with IT and Panchayatraj Minister KT Rama Rao as its head. The other members of the committee include E Rajender, T Harish Rao, T Nageshwara Rao and Jogu Ramanna.
The Chief Minister said the panel would decide the modalities of the programme well before its scheduled roll-out on August 15.
“The Government will hold a meeting the district collectors, joint collectors and other revenue officials on July 30 to discuss the programme,” a government statement said here on Sunday.
