Welcoming the initiative, environmental activists said that the general public and the Ganesh pandal organizers should prefer clay Ganesh idols in order to protect the lakes and other water bodies in the city.

Plastic usage must be minimized and the segregation must happen into dry and wet waste by putting them into separate bins. This will help the civic body to clean up the city quickly, said, Mahesh, an environmental activist from Hyderabad.

Government initiatives like these will surely help in protecting the lakes of the city.
