Prime Minister Mr Modi who is opposing free power to the farmers in the country claimed that the Central government is providing free power to four crore households in the name of Saubhagya. Isn’t this a double standard?
He opined that free power to the farm sector is a hurdle to the progress of the country. But his government could act according to his whims and fancies while restricting the governments in states. This amounts to usurping the powers of the democratically elected government.
The Telangana government contends that for decades, the farmers who were under ayacut of various irrigation projects were getting water for cultivation. But those in the tail end areas or far away from canals are forced to fit motors to draw water to irrigate their fields. When some farmers get a free water supply, why punish those at the tail-end area by imposing heavy power bills? What is the justification?, Telangana government seeks to know from the Prime Minister.
The proposed bill to curb free power by the Central government was opposed by several parties across the country. New Delhi chief minister Mr Aravind Kejriwal wanted to know why the BJP government waived crores of loans of corporate companies and why it is opposing free power to poor farmers.
Telangana chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has openly opposed the move and said his government would provide free quality uninterrupted power to farmers.
“If BJP does it, it is good and when states do it, it is wrong. What kind of logic is this,” Mr KCR posed to Prime Minister Mr Modi on several occasions.
