The state government has decided to distribute free sanitary napkins to students of government schools.
Those studying class 8 to 12 would get these kits and as many as 33 lakhs would be given. The government has allocated Rs 69.53 crore for the purpose. Nearly 11 lakhs students from class 8 to intermediate would benefit from the initiative.
This academic year fir six months the medical department gave clearance to buy 11 lakh kits.
Each kit will have six sanitary napkins, a water bottle and a bag to store them. Each student will be given 12 sanitary napkins.
This is a great initiative by the ruling TRS government. It helps in many ways such as protecting the health of students, prevents drop out ratio of students among others.
