Panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao has asked officials to ensure that people do not face any problem in getting potable drinking water during summer as there are no power outages in the state.
Reviewing the drinking water supply position with district collectors through video conference here on Monday, Rama Rao said that with no power outages and the government sanctioning `263 crore exclusively for mitigating drinking water problem during summer, there should not be any complaints from people about providing drinking water.
Rama Rao asked collectors to get daily reports from villages and coordinate with Rural Water Supply officials to ensure that drinking water is supplied to people without fail. He said the government will pay the pending bills due to private water tankers, who have supplied water earlier.
Asking the collectors to utilise all possible resources, Rama Rao said the borewells dug up in agriculture fields can also be taken for drinking water, if the farmers of the said land had not taken up cultivation. The minister also suggested the collectors to chalk out special plans to supply drinking water to all villages. He asked the officials to respond to every complaint that is received at the call centres and also in the media.
Reviewing MGNREGS works, Rama Rao asked officials to expedite the works taken up under the scheme. As the state is reeling under drought, MGNREGS works will come to the rescue of the people. He asked the officials to give job cards to every person who applies for works under the scheme.
