Elevating Uttam, Rajanarasimha to Congress central committees clips Revanth’s wings

The TPCC President Revanth Reddy is now in a fix. The elevation of party seniors Damodara Rajanarasimha and Uttam Kumar Reddy to Congress central committees and the likely merger of YSRTP into the Congress party came as a shocker to Revanth.

The events unfolding in the Telangana Congress indicate that the party high command is clipping the wings of the TPCC chief. A few days back, former deputy Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh Damodara Rajanarasimha was included in the list of permanent invitees to the Congress Working Committee, the apex body of the Congress. Yesterday, Uttam Kumar Reddy, the former TPCC president, was named as the member of Congress Election Committee, another top committee of the INC.

At a juncture where Uttam and Revanth are at loggerheads regarding the selection of candidates for the forthcoming Assembly Elections in Telangana, the party high command offering a plum post to Uttam will certainly irk Revanth. Now, being a member of the Congress Election Committee, the former TPCC chief can call the shots in naming the candidates.

Another development that suffocates Revanth is the likely merger of the YSRTP in the Congress. Revanth Reddy was reluctant to induct YS Sharmila into the party as he has some reservations against the YSRTP leader. Very recently, Sharmila met Congress senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi and her joining in the Congress is a mere formality.

On whole, it appears that the central leadership is wary of leaving it alone to Revanth as there were numerous complaints against the oneupmanship of the TPCC President and his high-handedness.
