Eamcet Schedule Announced

The Telangana government on Friday announced the schedule for Eamcet and said the notification will be issued on February 25. While announcing the schedule, NV Ramana Rao, convener of Eamcet-2015, said the submission of online applications for both engineering and medicine will commence on February 28 and candidates can submit their applications up to April 9 without fine.

As earlier announced, the exam will be conducted on May 14 and ranks will be declared on May 28. The CET committee along with chairman of the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE), T Papi Reddy met here on Friday and released the schedule without making any changes to the existing procedure. The committee has decided to retain the qualifying marks in the Eamcet at 25 per cent of the total score, but the SC/ST candidates will require no minimum qualifying marks.

However, the committee said their admission will be limited to the extent of seats reserved for such categories. The Intermediate marks will carry 25 per cent weightage in total score which means higher score in the core subjects will help the candidates secure a better rank. Eamcet convener said this weightage for Intermediate marks will be the same for candidates from both local and non-local categories.

The score of non-local candidates will be calculated based on their respective State boards. The TSCHE clarified that students from Andhra Pradesh can also appear for Eamcet in Telangana. “But, they will have to compete only for 15 per cent of seats which are allotted to the non-local category,” Papi Reddy said. However, there are no regional centers in AP for TS-Eamcet.

Reddy said those students from other states, who want to write the exam can apply for any of the regional centers in Telangana.

Asked if there was any plan to establish centers in AP, he said, “We will consider if the AP government requests for them.” Currently, there are 12 regional centers in Telangana and the government is planning to add two more at Kodad in Nalogonda district and Kothapet in Khammam district. For this year, there are no changes in the syllabus and it will be updated on the website, www.tseamcet.com

A model of the OMR sheet will also be updated on the website.
