The e-Panchayats initiative of the state government is all set to be launched on Gandhi Jayanthi October 2. In the first phase, certificates like birth and death certificates would be issued and later other services would be provided as well.
IT minister KT Rama Rao held a discussion with senior officials of the IT and Panchayat Raj departments on the status of the related works here on Friday.
The minister said the government had already trained young women, who would serve as Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE), to man these centres.
He added that the government is of the view to provide employment to women exclusively in these centres.Stating that the broadband and V-SAT technologies were used for the purpose, the minister said the necessary software was already in place.
He further added that the government was also laying optic fibre cable, along with Water Grid pipeline, with an aim to provide internet connectivity to every household in the state.
Comprehensive Digital Mechanism
Panchayat Raj department principal secretary Raymond Peter directed officials to map all ongoing works and assets of the department in the state, with high resolution photographs, to enable online monitoring. On Friday, he held discussions with officials of the National Remote Sensing Agency, Centre for Good Governance, National Informatics Centre, Tata Consultancy Services. He said there was a need to develop a comprehensive digital mechanism to enable financial transactions of the department go online. For monitoring Water Grid works, he instructed them to utilise the Bhuvan software of the Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO).
