Linen sarees weaved by the handloom weavers of Dubbak have received national wide recognition. Dubbak’s linen saree found its place in 75 different types of sarees selected from across the country by the Union Ministry of Textiles.
The sarees are displayed at a saree festival titled ‘Viraasat – Celebrating 75 handwoven sarees of India’ in New Delhi from January 3 to January 17. Weaved by the Dubbak Handloom Producer Company, the Dubbak linen sarees have their own distinction. Globally, these sarees are the first of their kind to be made with 100% linen cotton.
Weavers here produce Ikkat sarees using the tie and dye method and they are also focussing to extend their weaving magic to produce suiting and shirting. On the other hand, the Pochampalli saree, Siddipet Gollabhama saree, and Narayanpet saree are the other varieties from Telangana that were a part of the display.
