The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party have asked the youth and students in Telangana not to give in to despair over the current state of affairs on statehood issue. They said BJP led National Democratic Alliance was firmly fighting for the cause.
The statehood to the region could only be achieved by the NDA, the leaders of which were highlighting the issue at national level. The issue would be sorted out sooner or later making the dreams of crores of Telangana people realized, the party leaders said.
A one-day ‘Telangana Bharosa-Deeksha’ to boost the confidence among the youth was staged here on Friday under the aegis of the party state leadership in the wake of a series of suicides for statehood taking place in Warangal and other parts of Telangana.
The party state president G Kishan Reddy, senior leaders Bandaru Dattatreya, K Laxman, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, chairman of the Telangana Struggle Committee T Rajeshwar Rao, T Vijaya Lakshmi and others took part in the deeksha. Senior journalist Pothuri Venkateshwar Rao also took part in the deeksha.
Addressing a well attended gathering at Telangana Martyrs Memorial, Kishan Reddy said that the deeksha was aimed at sending a message to the youth in the region that the BJP was standing by them to fight for the cause.
“No politics are involved in this. We just want to ask the public to stop the loss of human lives for the statehood by committing suicides. It will not lead to achieving statehood” the BJP leader said. “With all the resolve we have to struggle”, he added.
Dattatreya took serious exception to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s reported comments wherein he said the motive behind the recent suicides was not Telangana. He noted that the suicides would be stopped if the Congress and Telugu Desam Party leaders were clear regarding Telangana.
The Deeksha was taken up following the direction by the party national leader Sushma Swaraj who asked the state leaders to uplift the morale of youth here, he said. “The BJP is fully supporting the Telangana cause and the statehood would be achieved very soon”, he hoped. Earlier the leaders paid tributes at Telangana martyrs at the Memorial.
